Commitment to Transparency

Energy Fuels initiated the Piñon Ridge Mill process with an “open door” approach.

As part of that approach, even though not required, Energy Fuels has kept the State of Colorado involved in each step that is being taken from the initial site selection through the baseline and project design process. This transparent approach also extends to communications with the local communities and counties.

This approach reflects the belief of Energy Fuels that the Piñon Ridge Mill will provide benefits to the local community as well as assist in the drive for clean electricity. Energy Fuels also is confident that the Piñon Ridge Mill can be constructed, operated and reclaimed in accordance with the strict environmental and safety standards that apply to uranium mills.

We created this website to convey information about the proposed Piñon Ridge Mill to members of the public, the media, elected officials and policy-makers. We believe it is of the utmost importance to engage the public early in our planning efforts.

In late March, 2008, Energy Fuels hosted public open houses in both Naturita and Montrose. In late May, a meeting with the San Miguel County Commissioners and members of the public was held in Norwood, Colorado. This was followed by 6 public meetings with Montrose County in 2009 and 8 public meetings with the CDPHE in early 2010 that were held in the local communities. Energy Fuels has also given numerous interviews and site tours to members of the public and the media. We continue to expend considerable time and effort to make sure anyone who is interested in learning more about the Piñon Ridge Mill has every opportunity to become involved.

Energy Fuels intends to periodically update this website to keep its readers fully informed about new developments as permitting is completed and the mill construction begins. As new documents are submitted to government agencies, they will be posted on the CDPHE's website (refer to the Environmental Review and Permitting section).

By creating this website, hosting public meetings, being open with the media, and genuinely listening to the comments and concerns of stakeholders like you, we can make the Piñon Ridge Mill a valuable asset to Western Montrose County and the United States.
